About
The collective Clary Levy and Stéphane Clor composed six pieces, each named after a bird. They used a unique combination of violin, violoncello piccolo, and a diverse orchestra of resonators and transducers to explore birdsong, resonance, and the transformative power of sound. The nature of this music required a blend of traditional imagery with a contemporary twist. The inspiration for the images came from a book featuring illustrations from the 18th and 19th century. The resonators and transducers act as an extra layer above the violin and violoncello piccolo resulting in an alienating effect. These effect is translated by animating the illustrations and bringing them to life.
